Suki: *pulls away from Chloe, wipes eyes with fingers* "You wanna know why I’ve never acted like this about a guy before? It’s ‘cuz none of those other dudes mattered. I was just havin’ fun and so were they, but Jon’s…"
Chloe: "Special."
Suki: "Yeah.
Chloe: "Then do what you gotta to get him. Be brave. I’ve seen you do it hundreds of times, paddling out to meet a triple overhead. You’ve always packed large in the stone zone. Why’s this so different?"
Suki: "Waves are less scary."
Chloe: "Waves kill; Jon doesn’t. Unless he’s hiding serial killer tendencies, then, I stand corrected."
Suki: "There’s the big death, and then there’s the little ones that still leave you walkin’ and talkin’ afterwards. Jon’d be the latter."
Chloe: "Why?"
Suki (quietly): "Because I don’t think he’s into me and…I’m totally gone for him. I don’t know how it happened, but it did. Sometimes I think he feels the same, but he’s never made a move or anything, and all I want to do is climb him like randy monkey on a jungle gym."
Chloe: *laughs softly*
Suki (darkly): "I’m totally amped that my emotional breakdown amuses you."
Chloe: *rolls eyes* "Jon’s so into you that he can barely see straight. He’s gonna need a seeing eye dog before too much longer. The reason he hasn’t ‘made a move’ is because he’s squicked about the age difference."
Suki: "Huh? How do you know?"
Chloe: "I heard him talking to Yuri at the barbecue. He’s worried about being so much older. He doesn’t want to ‘take advantage of your naïveté’."
Suki (irritated): "Who does he think he’s talkin’ about here? He’s not the first cowboy to my rodeo, if you know what I mean."
Chloe: *muffles laugh with hand* "I dare you to tell him that, in those exact words."
Suki (musingly): "I just might. What’d Yuri say back to Jon?"
