I never owned an Integrity Toys doll ever before her, and Alysa surprised me a lot, which happens very rarely.
I don’t know how people break them, because I find her to be quite sturdy. Of course, quality control can still be an issue with IT dolls.
Her body is plastic, but it’s not like regular Barbie plastic – it has a nice feel to the touch and doesn’t feel like it’s too fragile…Of course, Playline Barbie would probably survive much more than Integrity doll, but when I hear that Integrity are fragile…they’re not as fragile as Silkstone Barbies or Pivotals. She has much more weight to her than I expected. She’s close in her proportions to Pivotal Barbie bodies, but half a head taller and is at least twice as heavy(maybe closer to 90s Barbies weight) and feels good in hand.
Articulation…That is everything. Of course, she is not as bendy as Made to Move…but twice not as ugly. MtM joints just don’t look good when exposed. My only peeve about her is that her left shoulder (on the right, when facing the doll) doesn’t really hold when lifted away from body (which can be dealt with if you push deeper into shoulder socket, to add some more friction)
She holds poses nicely, her body can be dissasambled, she is much more poseable than articulated Silkstones and Pivotal (except for bust joint, it has a bit smaller range of movement from side to side). Overall her articulation is very fluid yet sturdy.
But her knees…wow…I never expected that even though they look like standard jointed knees they have CLICKS. Never read or heard about that before I tried it. They’re almost subtle, but they’re felt and help the doll to hold her poses.
Accessories and clothing are everything…the details are just incredible. And additional pair of hands are just what I wished for. (not in pictures, but they come with the set)
I found it difficult to assemble her doll stand. I had to practically pry the rod into the base with a lot of force to make it go in, heating it in hot water beforehand. Holds together like a rock, but I was afraid that I was going to break it.
Her Skin tone is New Hispanic. It’s not as dark or orange as it looks in most pictures on the web, in real life has a slight olive tinge and brings up her complexion nicely.
And her overall fashion assembly – it’s a bit over the top, but that’s why she’s “Color Clash”. Pretty nice color blocking, a lot of details. She looks playful. Maybe I’d change some elements and colors or tints, but it works very nicely as is. The fabrics used are suprisingly soft. I aniticipated for the dress to be stiff and coarse, but it’s very nice and soft.
For some people she’s not the “it” doll, because she’s got quite a unique fashion “sense”, but when you get used to this “something new and out of comfort zone” you can actually see what was intended in her ensemble. She’s a fashion statement and one done quite interestingly.
BTW her look is heavily inspired by the Gucci 2017-2018 collection. Her shoes are practically a copy of Gucci pumps, dress is a slight modification of one of the dresses from 2017-2018 collection. And her purse definitely bears esthetics of Gucci handbags. Never tried her fury trench-coat, but surely will.
She’s high-fashion, glamorous, uncommon and not for everyone in sense of style, but even without all that – she is a gorgeous doll with gorgeous screening.
Alysa’s sculpt is 3.5 Alysa – which means it’s reduced in size. As far I know this sculpt is one of the Legacy sculpts – meaning it’s one of the Integrity long-time used and old sculpts. Alysa first appeared as a character in the Integrity Toys playline series of Janay and friends in early 2000s.
Her body is Industry type (obviously) which is model-esque body build. She has smaller breasts than regular IT doll lines, and quite close to Model Muse Barbie proportions…which makes Model Muse and other collector Barbie fashions fit her perfectly.
Her feet are high-heeled and in their shape quite close to original 1959 Barbie’s feet (but much more detailed) – heavily arched, tip toed and best match for it would be Poppy Parker and East 59th shoes (same mold) or close to Model Muse proportioned shoes – most of them sit perfectly on her, others not so well. Unlike NuFace and FR her legs can pivot from side to side in the knee section. Hip joints allow a lot of movement, but she can’t do splits, not sideways, nor frontal.
Side note: Color Clash Alysa dolls tend to have wonky eyes. Her left eye is bigger than the right, and applied lashes in certain angles add shadow and further increase visual difference, but under the correct lighting it is not noticeable…and even more – adds a side-glance effect, making her look a bit sly. First time wonky eye actually makes me happy. Maybe that was actually done on purpose…No idea.
