No it’s not a battle zone.
This brand new cavity wall insulation is having to be removed as it has failed in a spectacular fashion in a matter of weeks.
The manufacturers own installation guidelines were not followed before the walls were pumped full of insulation.
As the cavity wall installation was faulty it has made the homes cold, draughty and wet. The reverse of what is supposed to happen with new wall insulation.
Energy bills have rocketed in the cold weather as the external walls are now full of holes.
Disgraceful on the part of the so called experts.
It will take years to recover financially from this disaster.
Anything to do with commission based sales perhaps, free pre-Christmas grants to installers and rubbish quality control on site?
Obviously the so called "specialists" on this project did not even understand or follow their own industry guidelines.
The chaos they collectively created is absolutely shocking not only for the residents who had to put up with the damp and increased heating bills but also for the industry which is unable to stick to its own installation procedures.
This was 100% avoidable and should never have happened.
Sales targets and commissions have much to answer for, especially where Government grants are involved.
There should be an outcry of the mis-selling and poor quality workmanship for these failed installations.
Not all properties are suitable for cavity wall insulation. The Government Grant Scheme is being abused in the race to grab market share of the "FREE" money.
